A poem by Raea Adams

Once upon a time
I wore my heart
On my sleeve
Everyone used it for free,
But to me,
Came a fee.

Each use
Took a piece of me.
Each touch
Drained warmth out of me.
Each time
I felt less like me
And more empty.

I’m a nobody.
The one you’ll never see
I belong nowhere
To nobody.
Do I exist?
You tell me.
